The moment a child recognized Jesus in the lion… and reminded me why I paint.
There are moments as an artist that stop you.
Not because of numbers.
Not because of reach.
But because something real happened.
This painting… is one of those moments.
After I shared it, a woman left this comment:
“WOW.. I am seeing your artwork for the first time.. and my 3 year old son just said ‘wow! That lion is POWERFUL!’ .. ‘and Jesus is with the lion to help it’ .. ‘and the lion was sleeping but Jesus woke him up with His trumpet’ 🎺🕊️🔥⚡️”
I had to stop and read it again.
A child… seeing what we sometimes struggle to see.
No overthinking.
No analyzing.
Just truth.
He saw strength.
He saw Jesus.
He saw life awakening.
And I felt it all over again.
This is why I paint.
My prayer has always been simple:
that my art would be felt… that it would speak… that it would carry something beyond color and brushstroke.
And when I read her words, I realized… it did.
Not just to an adult trying to interpret meaning…
but to a child who simply saw what was there.
There is something about this piece that feels different.
The Lion of Judah at rest… not weak, not absent… but full of quiet, unshaken strength.
A presence that says:
You are safe.
You are held.
You are not alone.
And somehow… people are feeling that.
The comments have been overwhelming in the most beautiful way.
So many messages of peace, strength, comfort…
people recognizing something deeper than the image itself.
They’re not just seeing a painting.
They’re feeling Him.
And that is everything to me.
I don’t ever want to create just to create.
I want to create from that place…
the place where something real flows through and reaches someone right where they are.
The place the Holy Spirit speaks.
This painting feels special.
Not because of how it looks…
but because of what it’s doing.
And if you felt even a moment of peace when you saw it…
then it has already done exactly what it was meant to do.
